New clerk's duties would be as follows:-
Assist with the sorting of receipts, arranging receipts for registered mails, comparing daily the list of Merchant ships in Barbour and the lists of visitors at Hotels with the Poste Restante list of Registered covers; attending to the return of A. R's to senders besides assisting with registered mails both arriving and departing by private steamers if required to do so.
On the arrival of American Contract packets he would have to assist with the San Francisco registered; on the arrival of Contract Packets from Europe his assistance would be given to whichever of the clerks required him most; which would depend greatly on the size of the different registered mails arriving.
